Snowbird (Real Name: Narya), along with the rest of Alpha Flight, flew into the hearts of X-Men readers everywhere in the spring of 1979 in The Uncanny X-Men #120. Born of the union between a mortal man and an Inuit goddess, Narya was destined from birth to be the Earth-bound agent against the Great Beasts, those evil mystical beings who opposed the benign rule of the Eskimo gods. Taken in by Michael Twoyoungmen, the Indian Shaman who assisted at her birth, Narya grew from infancy to adulthood within a few years, and learned to revel in the powers that she had inherited from her divine mother.
